  11. SYNOPSIS
  12.      ident [ -q    ] [ file ... ]
  13.  
  14. DESCRIPTION
  15.      ident searches for    all occurrences    of the pattern
  16.      $keyword:...$ in the named    files or, if no    file name
  17.      appears, the standard input.
  18.  
  19.      These patterns are    normally inserted automatically    by the
  20.      RCS command co(1),    but can    also be    inserted manually.  The
  21.      option -q suppresses the warning given if there are no
  22.      patterns in a file.
  23.  
  24.      ident works on text files as well as object files and dumps.
  25.      For example, if the C program in f.c contains
  26.  
  27.       char rcsid[] = "$Id: f.c,v 5.0 1990/08/22 09:09:36

  30.      and f.c is    compiled into f.o, then    the command
